Introduction, the plans and the cutting list
This is a standard style coffee table suitable for most living rooms.
The table top is 1200mm x 600mm (2ft x 4ft).
It is big enough to snack off, read on or write on.
This particular plan is an update of one of our earlier Buildeazy projects. It is a relatively easy coffee table to make and would be an ideal project for the less experienced woodworker.
Throughout this project all the dimensions (wood sizes) are given in both metric (mm) and imperial (inches).
A bit about the wood
The wood sizes used in this project are common sizes and can be easily sourced from most places.
The legs are 45mm x 45mm (1 1/2" x 1 1/2"), the rails are 90mm x 20mm (3/4" x 3 1/2"), the corner blocks are 90mm x 45mm (1 1/2" x 3 1/2")
and the fillets are approximately 20mm x 20mm (3/4" x 3/4").
For the tabletop, you can use 20mm (3/4") thick MDF (medium density fiber board), custom wood, plywood or any other suitable wood.
For the legs and rails you can use any type of furniture grade wood; it is a personal choice
and usually dependant upon availability and preferred finish. For example, are you going to paint the table, stain it or maybe apply some other kind of finish?
